　　New research suggests the color red on a woman does indeed signal sexual availability—notonly to men, but also to other women.

　　現(xiàn)在科學研究指出，女性身上紅色的裝飾確實會向他人發(fā)送誘惑的信號——不僅向男性，也會向其他女性發(fā)送這種信號。

　　As we have noted previously, studies have found that men tend to view women in red asmore sexually attractive. But, ladies, if you were thinking wearing that color would send asubliminal signal only males would pick up on, you’re out of luck.

　　我們已經(jīng)知道，研究發(fā)現(xiàn)，男性往往認為穿紅衣的女性更具有吸引力。但是姑娘們，如果你以為穿紅衣只會對男性發(fā)送微妙的信號，那你就錯了。

　　“Our results suggest that women perceive and behave toward other women in red as if theseother women are actively advertising” their openness to the possibility of a sexual encounter,writes a research team led by University of Rochester psychologist Adam Pazda.

　　Pazda and his colleagues describe a experiment conducted on two different continents thatprovide evidence that wearing red sets off certain alarm bells. In the first, 196 womenrecruited online viewed a photo of “a moderately attractive women in her late 20s.”

　　帕扎達的團隊在兩塊不同的大陸上進行了三項實驗，這些實驗的結果證實，穿紅衣的女性會發(fā)出警示信號。在第一項實驗中，科學家們請196名參與實驗的女性觀看一張“具有現(xiàn)代美的二十八九歲的女性”照片。

　　Half saw an image of her wearing a white dress; the rest viewed an otherwise identical image ofher in a red dress. Afterwards, all responded on a sliding scale to a series of statements suchas “This person is sexy.”

　　一半的實驗參與者看到的照片上姑娘穿著白衣;另一半的實驗參與者看到的照片上姑娘穿著紅衣。實驗結果是，所有的參與者都認為“這個人很性感”，但是性感的程度卻有明顯的高低之分。

　　As expected, the woman was seen as more sexy if she was wearing red. This held true whetheror not the study participants were in a committed relationship.

　　如科學家們所料想的，穿紅衣的姑娘被認為更加性感。無論實驗參與者是否單身，他們的觀點都是這樣的。

　　The researchers caution that, needless to say, “not all women displaying red are activelyadvertising sexual availability.” For those who are not, it’s valuable to understand the waystheir wardrobe choices are being interpreted—both by men, and by their female acquaintances.
