　　“diao絲”這個(gè)詞似乎在一夜之間成了網(wǎng)絡(luò)紅詞，人人都自稱“diao絲”，可似乎人人又都算不上“diao絲”。那么，“diao絲”這個(gè)詞英語(yǔ)怎么說(shuō)呢?

　　Plebs is short for plebians, derived from the period of the Ancient Romans. The plebeians were the general body of Roman citizens and those who were privileged were labeled patricians.

　　Plebs是plebians一詞的簡(jiǎn)寫(xiě)形式，源于古羅馬時(shí)期。Plebians指古羅馬時(shí)期的普通民眾，比他們身份更高貴的被稱為patricians(貴族)。

　　Nowadays, plebs is one associated with those in the lower class. They were often dined as members of a low-born, despised social class and a commoner, while many people who consider themselves modern-day patricians often look down and mock them.

　　如今，plebs多指處于社會(huì)底層的人，即我們所說(shuō)的“diao絲”。他們多被歸類為出生低下、平凡無(wú)奇，且被輕視的社會(huì)階層。而那些自認(rèn)為是現(xiàn)代社會(huì)貴族的人經(jīng)常會(huì)鄙視或嘲笑他們。
