GMAT語(yǔ)法考試：that用法知多少.

　　大家都知道，在GMAT語(yǔ)法考試中that是非常重要的，如果用好了就會(huì)起到四兩撥千斤的功效，那么that用法一共有幾種呢?同學(xué)們應(yīng)該怎么用?

　　1. 遠(yuǎn)指代詞

　　“近指”——這是坦克菲爾德。

　　“遠(yuǎn)指”——那是豌豆家屬。

　　如果按常理講

　　This is Tankfield. That is Pea.

　　在GMAT語(yǔ)法考試中就算錯(cuò)。

　　GMAT語(yǔ)法考試規(guī)定，that表示遠(yuǎn)指時(shí)是充當(dāng)定語(yǔ)的，也就是說(shuō)，that后面要有名詞中心語(yǔ)。所以需要這樣表達(dá)：

　　This nonchalant heart is Tankfield.

　　That tender elegant lady is Pea.

　　此外，可以用在比較結(jié)構(gòu)中。AB兩項(xiàng)均有某物，A的該物與B的該物兩相比較，用that of B指代前面已經(jīng)交待過(guò)的該物，也是成立的。

　　The personality of Pea, unbelievable or not, is in fact far better than that of Tankfield.

　　2. 強(qiáng)調(diào)句 It is… that…

　　其中，that不可省略

　　It is fate that smiles at the rip-roaring roller coaster inside Pea's mind.

　　It is Tankfield’s indifference that Pea takes for granted.

　　It is out of love rather than pity that Pea persists in the Sisyphean pursuit.

　　3. 定語(yǔ)從句關(guān)系代詞

　　a. 名詞+that+定語(yǔ)從句的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞

　　Tankfield boasts a heart that shows reluctance to accommodate Pea.

　　即先行詞作為定語(yǔ)從句主語(yǔ)的情況，that不可省略。

　　b. 名詞+that+定語(yǔ)從句的主語(yǔ)+謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞

　　Pea sometimes cannot help lamenting for the transience of youth that she has wasted on Tankfield.

　　即先行詞作為定語(yǔ)從句賓語(yǔ)的情況，that可以省略。

　　4. 從屬連詞

　　a. 賓語(yǔ)從句

　　Pea is no longer afraid to acknowledge that her forts to win Tankfield will possibly remain in vain.

　　此處that不可省略。除非謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞是say：

　　Tankfield said she prerred spending time with a silk cocoon.

　　b. 主語(yǔ)從句

　　That Tankfield regards Pea as no different from others irritates Pea.

　　此處that不可省略。

　　當(dāng)然，和主語(yǔ)從句比起來(lái)，GMAT語(yǔ)法更喜歡的是形式主語(yǔ)It：

　　It irritates Pea that Tankfield regards her as no different from others.

　　此處that亦不可省略。

　　c. 同位語(yǔ)從句

　　名詞+that+完整句

　　that不可省略

　　The thought that there is no chance that Tankfield reads all that is written on that platform fuels Pea’s courage to write on.
