原題:The following appeared in the opinion column of a financial magazine.

“On average, middle-aged consumers devote 39 percent of their retail expenditure to department store products and services, while for younger consumers the average is only 25 percent. Since the number of middle-aged people will increase dramatically within the next decade, department stores can expect retail sales to increase significantly during that period. Furthermore, to take advantage of the trend, these stores should begin to replace some of those products intended to attract the younger consumer with products intended to attract the middle-aged consumer.”

提供觀點:

1、The absolute value of consumption should be given by the author.

2、all things are equal

3、Whether the increase of profit gained by attracting more middle-aged consumers will be offset

4、by the reduction of profit because of the loss of young consumers.

22AA是說一個grocery今年因為增加了一個什么什么segment之后sales增加了,然后以后幾年他還要增加更多的segment。還有說因為他在這個地區(qū)是唯一一家,所以competitive advantage很大

原題:The following is part of a business plan created by the management of the Megamart grocery store:

“Our total sales have increased this year by 20 percent since we added a pharmacy section to our grocery store. Clearly, the customer’s main concern is the convenience afforded by one-stop shopping. The surest way to increase our profits over the next couple of years, therore, is to add a clothing department along with an automotive supplies and repair shop. We should also plan to continue adding new departments and services, such as a restaurant and a garden shop, in subsequent years. Being the only store in the area that offers such a range of services will give us a competitive advantage over other local stores.”

提供觀點:

1、時間關(guān)系不能推出因果關(guān)系。僅因藥品專柜開在銷售額增加前,就認為總體銷售額增加時其結(jié)果,是錯誤的

2、錯誤類比。即使銷售額增加是由藥品專柜開設(shè)引起,也不代表開設(shè)其他專柜能增加銷售額(顧客不一定更關(guān)注一條龍購物的便利)

3、增加銷售額未必增加利潤,增加服務(wù)也要增加成本
