　　5.你的背景很重要。如果對路了，老板會很仔細看你的PS，最好能夠在PS前羅列一下你做過的東西。老板很忙沒有時間去讀洋洋灑灑的PS,澳際那類的東西不重要。把自己做過的簡單寫出來。然后具體描述一下。什么本人出生與什么家庭。打小如何熱愛，大學成績優(yōu)秀。全部沒有用。老板才不管你愛他有多深你的能力才是最重要的

　　6. If somebody can actually describe their skills and the work they want to do, that stands out.

　　7.PS之所以重要是因為它反映學習動機。PS好的最基本條件就是要針對該學校具體情況。要表現(xiàn)出你的背景是如何地適合這個學校。當然，胡吹是不行的，再怎么吹只要沒做假老美還是能看出高低的。

　　8.一個好的PS，應結合過去的經(jīng)歷和對專業(yè)的興趣來談為什么該校的教授和研究計劃對自己特別有吸引力。可以點名指出感興趣的教授或研究方向，這樣論述就具體了，因而也就更讓人信服

　　9.Princeton物理系博士計劃的介紹說得好，我們關心的是申請者對物理學的興趣和動機而不是現(xiàn)有的專業(yè)水平，至于以前物理學基礎的薄弱環(huán)節(jié)可以在以后的博士學習期間彌補。

　　10.所以有時PS表現(xiàn)出的對專業(yè)的興趣比申請人實際具有的專業(yè)學術水平還重要。另外，申請者對專業(yè)興趣的還可以通過推薦信來表現(xiàn)，這就是為什么推薦信和PS最最重要了。

　　談對專業(yè)的興趣一定不能泛泛談，譬如談從小讀了愛因斯坦的故事熱愛物理學是沒用的。研究生結合自己研究方向談起來比較容易些，但本科生也應該對本專業(yè)研究方向比較了解，然后結合一個大方向領域(比如理論凝聚態(tài))談自己的基礎和對該領域未來發(fā)展的看法。對本科生來說，我想“強關聯(lián)作用的研究必將為凝聚態(tài)理論帶來全新的概念”之類的話就夠了，研究生就應該具體一些。如果該校有你知道的或仰慕的牛教授，則可結合他的研究方向詳細地談。不過必須注意，點名教授一定不能只點一、兩個，而應該盡量多點一些?？傊?，PS+推薦信比什么都重要(Physics)。

　　11.I think the most important thing during your application process is to show　your research POTENTIAL　as much as possible.

　　12.The study plan serves three purposes.

　　First, it shows how well applicants can express their ideas in plain English.

　　Second, the study plan is supposed to show how much thought the applicants have given to the particular fields in which they want to study.

　　The third purpose of a study plan is to provide students with lesser grade an opportunity to prerent their intellectual accomplishments other than academic records.
