　　5.University students always focus on one specialist subject, but some people think universities should encourage their students to study a range of subjects in addition to their own subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? (08.06.05)

　　學(xué)習(xí)多個(gè)科目的好處：

　　目前很多大學(xué)都傾向于專業(yè)學(xué)習(xí)(specialized or vocational education)，很多專業(yè)都是以就業(yè)為本(career-oriented or vocation-oriented)而最近的潮流是重新注重全面教育(general education)，注重學(xué)生的技能，在不同學(xué)科上的應(yīng)用。

　　很多學(xué)科是交叉的interrelated，學(xué)習(xí)多種科目有利于了解更多的知識widen scope of knowledge，加深對于專業(yè)科目的理解be beneficial/advantageous/preferable to the understanding/comprehension of specialist subjects

　　畢業(yè)之后有更多的工作選擇increase employment opportunity,增加競爭力competiveness

　　當(dāng)求職市場競爭日趨激烈的時(shí)候，在不同專業(yè)領(lǐng)域涉獵、對于跨學(xué)科學(xué)習(xí)具備經(jīng)驗(yàn)的學(xué)生有望占據(jù)一個(gè)主導(dǎo)地位。As the job market is becoming increasingly competitive, students who dabble in different specialized areas and have experience in interdisciplinary study are expected to be in a preponderant position

　　深造的時(shí)候有更多的學(xué)科選擇 there are more choices when seeking for a further education.

　　學(xué)某些特定科目的好處：

　　學(xué)生將更有時(shí)間把精力放在專業(yè)課的學(xué)習(xí)上devote one’s time and energy to specific subjects節(jié)約時(shí)間

　　提高專業(yè)技能increase specialized knowledge

　　提高職業(yè)競爭力improve competitiveness

　　6.Some people think that children should obey the rules or do what their parents and teachers want them to do. Other people think that children controlled too much cannot deal with problem alone. Discuss both views and state your own opinion. (08.06.21)

　　父母的教育方式parenting分為：專斷型authoritarian, 管教型authoritative，縱容型permissive和漠不關(guān)心型uninvolved。大多數(shù)的專家認(rèn)同和推薦管教型authoritative這一教育模式，即父母會制定基本的規(guī)則establish basic guidelines讓小孩去遵循，但是同時(shí)考慮到小孩的特點(diǎn)和要求，懲罰的時(shí)候同時(shí)注意開導(dǎo)孩子。

　　父母和老師制定規(guī)則，控制孩子的行為的好處：

　　孩子缺乏自制力和判斷力the children are lack of self-control and judging ability/capability

　　父母和老師能夠根據(jù)自己的經(jīng)驗(yàn)幫助孩子找到正確的發(fā)展方向take the right path to success

　　有助于孩子形成良好的行為習(xí)慣form appropriate behavior patterns,改正其不好的行為習(xí)慣等stop their misbehaviors

　　孩子可以吸取前人的失敗教訓(xùn)，避免走彎路can draw experience from the preceding failures and avoid committing the same mistakes.

　　父母和老師制定規(guī)則，控制孩子的行為的壞處：

　　導(dǎo)致叛逆的行為result in rebellion，甚至對父母產(chǎn)生憎恨hate their parents, who apply strict rules and impose punishment

　　導(dǎo)致孩子產(chǎn)生逆來順受的性格docile obedience，不敢嘗試和面對失敗afraid to try and fail,表現(xiàn)出不足夠的自制fail to demonstrate considerable self-regulation

　　抑制孩子的想像力，不利于孩子充分表現(xiàn)自我deny children the opportunity to express individuality

　　缺乏獨(dú)立性lack of independence low self-esteem;不能獨(dú)自面對和解決困難conquer difficulties and handle different situations

　　孩子的興趣和決定應(yīng)當(dāng)受到尊重receive respect for their hobbies and decisions

　　給父母和老師減輕負(fù)擔(dān)lighten\reduce the burden of …
